Milpitas is a buffet town, and we’ve got the spreadsheet to prove it. Seriously, the data on lunch-rush turnover here is wild.

You can go from a spotless hall serving goat biryani with neat, separate grains to a bright, loud room where the chole bhature steals the entire show, all within a two-mile stretch of Lundy Avenue. Plates were stacked, fennel seeds were chewed, and one dosa deal at $8.

99 across at A2B genuinely made me question every other lunch decision I’ve ever made. So bring a real appetite and loose pants.

Here’s where to dive in.

Spotless dining, welcoming staff
Goat biryani with neat shells
Fish dishes cooked perfectly
Flavors that win repeat visits

Vande Bharat is the kind of place where you walk in and immediately feel like you’ve found a well-kept secret, even though it’s right there on the main drag. The dining room is spotless, and the staff greet you with a warmth that makes you want to settle in for a long lunch. Their goat biryani is the real deal—each grain of rice is separate, and the meat falls off the bone with a gentle nudge. The fish dishes are cooked perfectly, flaky and moist, with a spice rub that lingers just enough to make you crave another bite. Honestly, the flavors here win me over every single time. It’s not flashy, but it’s honest, and that’s worth a return trip.

Sweet venue, bright lights
Chole bhature steals the show
Generous portions, tasty vegetarian plates
Fun fennel seed finish
A lively, well-lit lunch stop

Raunak feels like the cheerful cousin of the buffet circuit—bright lights, a lively buzz, and a counter that moves fast even when it’s busy. The chole bhature absolutely steals the show; that fluffy, puffed bread is a thing of beauty, and the chickpea curry has a tangy, spicy depth that had me going back for seconds. Portions are generous, and the vegetarian plates are anything but boring—think paneer in a silky tomato gravy and a dal that tastes like it simmered all morning. The fennel seed finish at the end was a nice touch, a little licorice kiss to cleanse the palate. It’s a lunch stop that leaves you full, happy, and planning your next visit.

Highlights
Dabeli is a must-try
Quick service, no wait
Sandwich and vada pav
Flavorsome, satisfying meal
Skip the dahi puri

Annapoorna Authentic Indian Cuisine is a no-fuss spot that nails the basics—and that dabeli is a must-try, a sweet-and-spicy little pav stuffed with a potato mixture that’s surprisingly complex. The service is lightning quick, so you don't have to wait long even when the place is hopping. I also enjoyed their vada pav, which was crispy and satisfying, though the dahi puri was a miss for me—the yogurt was a bit too runny and the puri turned soggy too fast. Skip that one and stick to the sandwiches and the chaat. It’s a solid choice for a quick, flavorful bite that won’t mess up your schedule.

Tasty food, fair prices
Clean dining with handwashing station
Go for paratha, skip tandoori

Anjappar Chettinad Indian Restaurant brings the heat and the flavor, especially if you’re into South Indian cooking that packs a punch. Their flaky paratha is a thing of beauty—layered, crisp, and perfect for sopping up the fiery chicken Chettinad. The place gets lively, sometimes with music that makes you want to tap your foot while you eat, which is a fun vibe for a family dinner. The food is tasty and the prices are fair, so you won’t feel like you’re breaking the bank. The dining area is clean, and you can even wash up at the handwashing station before you dig in. Just go for the paratha and skip the tandoori—it’s not their strong suit.

Highlights
Gobi Manchurian is remarkably crispy
Samosa chaat impresses with crunch
Egg fried rice lacks flavor
Lively interior could use polish

Calcutta Chaat & Bakery is a mixed bag, but when it’s good, it’s really good. The gobi Manchurian is remarkably crispy, with that perfect Indo-Chinese balance of sweet, spicy, and tangy—I could eat a whole plate of that alone. Their samosa chaat also impresses, the crunchy samosas topped with yogurt and chutneys in a way that’s messy but oh-so-worth-it. On the flip side, the egg fried rice was bland and underwhelming, so skip that if you’re craving flavor. The interior is lively, but it could use a bit of a polish—the tables felt a little sticky. Still, for the Manchurian alone, I’d come back, maybe just for takeout next time.

Rava idly standout
Authentic filter coffee
Kind counter staff
Cozy outdoor seating
Easy parking access

Surya Darshini Dosa Cafe is a casual, welcoming spot that has become my go-to for a quick South Indian fix. The rava idly is the standout—soft, spongy, and with a bit of crunch from the semolina, served with a coconut chutney and sambar that are both top-notch. Their filter coffee is the real deal, strong and frothy, just the way it should be. The counter staff are kind and helpful, even when the place is packed, and the outdoor seating is a nice option on a sunny day. Parking is easy, too, which is a rare win in this part of the city. If you’re in the mood for a light, satisfying meal, this is the place to be.

A2B Indian Vegetarian Restaurant is proof that you don’t need to spend a lot to eat well, especially when they’ve got dosa deals at $8.99. The buffet is extensive, and everything I tried had that authentic Indian flavor done right—not watered down for the masses. The biryani is chef-crafted, with tender meat and fragrant rice that’s cooked to perfection, and the kebabs are juicy and smoky. Service is attentive and warm, with staff who make sure your water is filled and your plate is never empty. The dishes truly stand out, especially the butter chicken and the dal makhani. Best Onam Sadhya
Authentic Kerala flavors
Warm, generous owners
Delicious egg puffs
Worth a return visit

Sinoy's Kitchen is a small, unassuming spot that packs a mighty punch, especially when they roll out their Onam Sadhya. That meal is a festival on a banana leaf—crispy papadums, tangy pickles, a dozen little bowls of curries and chutneys that all work together in perfect harmony. The Kerala influence is strong here, and you can taste the authenticity in every bite. The owners are warm and generous, treating you like a guest in their home rather than a customer. And you must try the egg puffs—flaky, golden, and with a perfectly cooked egg inside, they’re a snack worth crossing town for. This place is a gem, and I’ll definitely be back for more of that home-style comfort.

Worth finding, definitely revisit

Apni Royal Kitchen is where I go when I want Punjabi food that tastes like someone’s grandmother is in the back, stirring a pot with love. The homestyle flavors shine through in every dish, but the soya chaap is the star—it’s rich, creamy, and has that perfect texture that makes you forget it’s not meat. The service is quick, and the staff are warm, making the whole experience feel easy and welcoming. I’ve also grabbed their parathas to go, and they travel well, staying flaky and buttery even after a short drive. This place is worth finding, tucked in as it is among the strip malls. I’ll definitely be revisiting, maybe with a bigger appetite.
